Client Services

The Advocacy Program offers assistance with a wide range of issues to low-income individuals in their main service areas of Salem, Peabody, Danvers, and Beverly. The Advocates work one-on-one with individuals and/or families to resolve crises, make referrals, and help clients attain and/or maintain self-sufficiency. The Advocates assist with Immigration, Social Security Benefits, housing, public benefits, Unemployment benefits, MassHealth and Medicare, and credit and consumer issues. Advocacy also administers funds, which with the Advocates discretion can be used to resolve many utility or rent crisis. Advocacy also administers the Representative Payee Program in conjunction with the Social Security Administration. This program assists individuals who are not capable of managing their own funds by maintaining a stable financial situation for them. However, it should be noted that at this time no new Representative Payee clients can be taken on due to limited staff.

The component’s staff is bi-lingual and bi-cultural in Spanish and Portuguese.
